October 9th-10th ECMC Columbus Day Regatta (Summerville)

November 6th-7th SOWEGA Southern Challenge

We invite all to come and participate in our racing series as you don’t have to be in the district to win a district trophy, you just have to out run and out drive us. Not an easy task. We have some very excellent, competitive drivers in our district as well some of the nicest people you’ll ever want to meet. We believe in that Southern Hospitality. If you would like to see the results of last years racing series, visit our website at www.impba13.com.

We have some new club presidents this year. Paul Blick of ECMC/Summerville, Rick Bearden of SOWEGA Model Boaters and Steve Lawson of Atlanta Model Boaters. I would like to thank them for dedicating their time and efforts to their clubs.

I know that a lot of people don’t like change, so when new rules and safety regulations come out in IMPBA, some are skeptical. Well the netting and the quite pipe rule was found to be not such a big deal after all. Everyone conformed and it’s a done deal. Please remember, these rules are for the protection of our racers, our families and spectators. We want to make this an enjoyable and safe sport for everyone. Thank you everyone for making this such an easy transition.

For all you northerners, if you want to run your boat and the ice and snow haven’t quite melted yet, come on down south, warm up and let’s do some racing.

Until next time,

Karla J. Dicks

District Director
