March 2007 Directors Report 2007 is set to be another busy year in D13. We’ve started off with a much needed new website, WWW.IMPBA13.COM All information, about the district can be found here and it will be continuously updated throughout the year. Be sure to check back after the races for results, reports and current standings.
The Atlanta Model Boaters and Charleston Model Boaters are both holding club race series again this year. These races will be one day events and is a great opportunity for new boaters to get into racing and veteran boaters to get in good practice. Both clubs are growing and attendance at these races is picking up making both these clubs series a lot of fun! Check each club’s website for dates.
We will be running both the Grand Prix Series and High Point Series in 2007. The GP series kicked off on Feb 24 & 25 with the SOWEGA race. This will be a four race series with races on July 21-22 in Atlanta, a race TBD in August and the finale on Nov 3 & 4 hosted by SOWEGA in Sycamore, GA.
The Highpoint Series begins for the Tunnel Boys with the National Outboard Tunnel Championships in Walterboro, SC on March 24 & 25. This year’s race should go over 100 boats for the first time and has drivers coming from the Netherlands, Germany and Australia to compete for the titles. This year the race is offering Gas and Fast Electric classes for the first time so all formulas have a chance to show their stuff. The Spring Nationals, which again sold out quickly after entries began being accepted, really get the HP series rolling on April 21 & 22. The Twin Shootout returns for the third running and looks to be the fastest field yet. This event seems to be a tougher ticket each year and I almost expect to see entries auctioned off on eBay! The two HP races after the Spring Nats will be the GA Champs Sept 8 & 9 in Atlanta and the SC Champs Oct 6-7 in Walterboro, SC and both will be offering a FE Mono class. Be sure to check the race flyers if you run FE. The series finishes up with the Halloween Dash Oct 27 & 28.
We still have record trials being run in Valdosta, GA with Speed Week getting the year started over New Year’s. The next record trial is the Fast Electric III, March 2, 3 & 4.
Two club series, nine district races, record trials, gas, nitro and now FE! Whatever you run, whatever part of RC Boating you enjoy, we have something for you in D13! We hope you can visit us in 2007.
