September 2005 Directors Report
It’s hard to keep up with all the activity going on in District XIII right now! By year’s end we will have held 13 district events. We’ve had 3 Grand Prix races and 3 Highpoint races so far with both series having two races left before the series champions are decided. Attendance is up at the races in both series with the GP averaging 68 boats a race and the HP averaging 114. Boaters from our neighboring districts have helped us achieve these totals and we appreciate you spending the time to come race with us. The Highpoint Series has been led by the popular tunnel classes. B Tunnel remains the most popular class with Sport B and Open following close behind. The Nitro Mono classes are picking up with each race and is seeing growth in all four classes with some evenly matched boats producing side by side racing. Nitro Hydro is slowly starting to make a come back and is getting more competitive with each race. Our Grand Prix series puts our Gas Boats center stage by offering seven classes of gas. 23-30 mono & cat have been our most popular classes while the Crackerboxes have taken advantage of the new rules and are racing at very fast speeds right now. I believe we have a couple of the fastest CB’s around and wouldn’t be surprised to see one of them claim a record before the year is out. The Tunnel Boys have been coming out to support this series in strong numbers also. In addition to our two season long series we have two record trials coming up. One in September on the 9, 10 & 11 and Speed Week III Dec 27 – Jan 2. The September trial will feature Fast Electric SAW trials. Both trials will be held at Blue Lake in Valdosta, GA. The biggest news in the second half of ’05 is the Charleston Model Boaters hosting the 2005 OB Tunnel Championships. This race will feature some of the best tunnels in the country going head to head to win top honors in eight classes. This is shaping up to be a big event and more details can be found at our district website www.impba13.com. We still have five races and two record trials scheduled for this season and we invite you to come and race with us!
