September 2006 Directors Report

We have a busy fall ahead of us in D13 as there are three Highpoint races and one Grand Prix race still to go. We also have two clubs, the Atlanta Model Boaters and the Charleston Model Boaters, that have been holding a one day club race series this year. There is no shortage of races here as the weather turns cooler!

The Grand Prix series started off strong with around 60 boats at the opener hosted by SOWEGA and also at the Atlanta GP. The series concludes Nov 4 &5 in Sycamore, GA and all classes are still tight at the top.

The final race should be very competitive since your finishing position will most likely decide your final place in the series.

The High Point series has three races left and most classes are up for grabs in the trophy hunt. The GA Champs, Sept 16 & 17 will be hosted by the Atlanta Model Boaters and has over a 100 boats  entered. This race will set the stage in the series standings going into the final two races. The GA Champs is highlighted by the Gas vs. Nitro shootout and the King Cracker title.

The SC Champs, Oct 7 & 8 will be hosted by the Charleston Model Boaters who have recently changed their site to a full course. Early entries indicate this race will pass last year’s attendance. The highlights for this race are the multi-engine hydro & mono classes and for the first time in D13 a FE only class is offered as Q1 Mono will be run.

The series finale will be in Ridgeway, SC as the ECMC hosts the Halloween Bash on Oct 28 & 29. The ECMC returns to the D13 schedule after a two year absence with a new site that gives the HP series it’s fourth race of the season on a full course. The HP Series Trophies will be awarded at the end of this race. The Series this year is shaping up to be the most competitive in several years and the stretch run is expected to be fast and furious!

For those that prefer to race against the clock, Speed Week IV has been scheduled for Dec 27 – Jan 2 in Valdosta, GA and the FE II Speed Trial is scheduled for March 2,3 & 4 2007 at the same location.

The Charleston Model Boaters have set the date for Tunnel Champs III. This will be the first TunnelChamps held on the full course and the race is now titled the National Outboard Tunnel Championships to reflect its growing popularity. This third edition will be bigger (full size course and over 100 tunnel boats expected!) and better (some adjustment to classes with Gas and FE tunnels expected!). Drivers from overseas are expected to attend again. Mark your calendars for March 24 & 25 2007 and check the CMB website for updates.

Due to problems with the D13 website I have been updating the district page on the IMPBA website.

Please check there for the most current and accurate information. Race Flyers, Full Highpoint and Grand

Prix standings can be found there.

See you at the races!
